New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) The Delhi unit of the Congress on Wednesday staged a protest outside the AAP’s office demanding resignation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the alleged liquor scam case.

The demand from the party comes a day after Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain resigned from their ministerial posts. Sisodia is on five-day CBI remand in connection with the liquor scam. Jain is already in jail in a money laundering case.

Several party workers-led by the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Anil Kumar Chaudhary held the demonstration outside the AAP’s office.

“The resignations of Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, which were quickly accepted by Kejriwal, were clear proof that he was the ‘mastermind’ of the liquor scam and all other corrupt deals. He should resign to enable a transparent probe into the liquor scam,” the Delhi Congress chief said.

He said, “Delhi Congress had been insisting from the outset of the implementation of the now scrapped liquor policy that Kejriwal and Sisodia had taken huge amounts in kickbacks from the liquor cartels for the implementation of the new liquor policy. Congress had also submitted a memorandum to the Lt Governor seeking a CBI probe into the scam, which has now been proved right, with the resignations of Sisodia and Jain.”

Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot was involved in a Rs 4,288 crore DTC bus purchase and maintenance scam, about which Delhi Congress had submitted a 1000-page complaint to the CVC (Chief Vigilance Officer) and CBI in July 2021, seeking a probe, and CBI took cognizance of the complaint to file a case, he alleged.

“Instead of removing Gahlot, Kejriwal entrusted him with eight important departments, as he was also a partner in his various scams,” Chaudhary said.
